Legends Administrative Policies

Prices

Weekend events cost $60 if you have preregistered, or $70 at the door. You can send checks to:

Legends Roleplaying, LLC
2366 Washington St.
Holliston, MA 01746

If you bring a new player to the game, we will discount your event cost by $10.

There is a $20 processing fee for bounced checks.

The first shaman symbol for a character is free. Replacement shaman symbols are $2.

The Pre-Game Staff Meeting

We usually schedule a plot meeting 1 week in advance of the event, which is where we sort out what will happen during the weekend, and to whom.

If your payment is received by the Friday before the plot meeting, it is far more likely you will receive personal plot at the event. If your registration is in the mail system on the Monday beforehand it should arrive in time.

Note that most plot is actually written the week before the actual meeting, so getting your PELs and registrations in early will give us a better chance to tune and polish our plans. For the best plot, your registrations, PELs, and in-game skills (spy/sage/lore/oracle/dream) should be submitted one week before the plot meeting, which is two weeks before the event.

Also note that although personal plot may be available, for various reasons you might not connect with it during the event.

Personal Waiver

Legends Roleplaying, LLC requires that each player agree to and sign a waiver before taking part in any event. Waivers are available for new players at check-in. You can help speed the check-in process by reviewing the PDF copy of the waiver, then printing it beforehand and bringing it to your first check-in.

You can download the Adobe Acrobat Reader for free, which you'll need to read PDF files.

Between-Game Skills

All between game skills (Spy, Sage, Lore, Oracle, Dream) may now be submitted using one of the links on your player page. These are below your contact info, in the section labelled "past events". You must have attended an event in order to submit a between-game skill.

Saging an object still requires a hand-written form (and the object) at checkout.

Character sheets

Character sheets are printed up the Friday before the staff meeting; f you purchase character skills after this date (one week before the event), your skills will not show up on your character sheet and those skills will not be available during the event.

New players who register AFTER the deadline are an exception. In this case, we will make every effort to have a character sheet ready.

The Cap

We allow only a limited number of players at any event. This is based on the number of NPCs we get and (to a lesser extent) the amount of bedding available at the site. Registrations will be taken on a first-come/first-serve basis. Once the cap is reached, further registrations will be refused, and no "at the door" registrations will be taken.

Cancellation

If you cancel an event before the pre-game staff meeting, we will issue a refund or put the money towards future events (your choice).

At this time we allow cancellations at any time - even for people who don't show up and don't formally cancel. Once a registration is received we assume that you will attend the event. It is the responsibility of the player to inform us that they did not attend an event for which they were registered.

Once we start hitting the cap, we will have to abide by the formal policy and require a 1-week notice to cancel. This is in fairness to those people who will be on the waiting list, but who won't get personal plot.

Game Setup

For weekend events, game setup starts on Thursday evening before the event. Players who show up early to help setup will be awarded one build point for every 3 hours worked. Only time actually spent helping setup will be eligible for awarded points.

Many setup tasks are not appropriate for players, such as building modules or setting out treasure, as it would give those players an unfair advantage during the game.

We would like to be done with setup by noon on Friday.

Game Strike

The game-end time on Sunday is based on the amount of help we get for strike.

We would like to be done with strike and leave the site by 5:00 PM; therefore, if we get a lot of help and strike takes only 3 hours, the game-end time will be 2:00 PM. If strike takes 5 hours and we leave the site at 7:00 PM, the game-end time will be moved back to 12:00 PM.

Players who help with strike will be awarded 1 character point for every 2 hours worked.

NPCs typically do not help with strike, and so the decision of when to end the game depends on the actions of the players. If you want the game to continue a little longer, then volunteer at strike.

General Help

Running the game is a lot of work, and so we allow players to help in exchange for character points.

Unskilled labor is rewarded at the rate of one character point per three hours of work. Examples of unskilled labor include: making spell packets, helping with setup, making tombstones, creating skill sticks, and mailing out newsletters.

Skilled labor is rewarded at the rate of one character point per two hours of work. Examples of skilled labor include: making trapped boxes, making costume, editing brochures, and making props.

Helping with strike is rewarded at the skilled labor rate, because that is where we need help the most.

We sometimes give out character points in exchange for donations of props and other physical items. We will only do this up to a point, since it gives an unfair advantage to players who have a lot of money. We prefer to reimburse players for materials.
