town
by Durkin Shattershield (Jeremiah Haskell) (in-game)on Wed May 7 22:09:30 2008
I realize i may have been a little harsh with some of the things I said last moon. I just wanted you all to step up and run your own town. If you want to be ruled by Lanencrest that is fine with me. Just know they are the same people who most likely brought the furies in the first place. So Drake put a hit on me I hear. For what not bowing to his rule? Saying the truth in that Sita is a necromancer? If I wanted to do something i already would have. I even comend her for fighting the furies while the rest of you ran and hid. You can defend yourselves but she was the only one there when i showed up. I dont wish a war with a nation over a silly girl but it seems that is what is being pushed my way. Just remember when i am gone who will save you then? And yes ALL ARE WELCOME IN KIA HAVEN.See you at the forge.

Kia Heaven? Well thats certainly is... creative. Durkin, be wary of the bridges you burn for they can not always be mended. No, there id no hidden message there. We had our fight. I don't wish to battle one with whom I had fought along side on so many battles. But you are painting yourself in corner, believe me I know from experience how hard it is to come back from that. I'm glad your at least trying to mend fences. I'm willing to bet your still hostile towards me however, but that is fine. Whats the worst you do? kill me? Though as I said I don't want to fight you, alls that come of it is holes in my shirt.

Hmm...are you defending the one who was controlling you when you were fiend possessed? (Drake)
Isn't the fact that Drake was controlling a fiend possessed Rock just ever so slightly incriminating/suspicious?? It brings up some questions: Why was he controlling you? How did he manage to gain control over you after you fell in battle?

Are you stupid? Listen Mr. A. Non, (bet you think thats clever) It is WIDELY known that I have no love for "prince" Drake. I was commending Durkin on trying to apologize to the town, not to Drake. Nowhere in my post was I defending Erza. Its a very good idea to be anonymous, because stupid like you gets you dead. You are right, there are questions to be asked. The public board is not the place. I will forgive your ignorance this once, but make that mistake again and I'll break every bone in your body.
Who will save us?
by A. Non. (in-game)on Thu May 8 09:51:39 2008
Why, we will save *ourselves* of course.
We always do, especially when a monster has poisoned claws or throws ice dart spells, in which case you run like a little kia yourself.
If Sita is a necromancer, why aren't you doing your job? Because the rest of us will turn you into a smear on the grass? Because you'll 'start a war'? What a load of hobgoblin dung. You've never let trivial things stop your anti-necromancy rampages before, often citing things like, "DEATH COMMANDS IT!", just so you get away with things scot-free.
Sorry Durkin, but you are obnoxious, arrogant and a hypocrite. I think you annoy most of us more than actually help us. And I don't think anyone will care when you are gone.

I find it interesting that a person that is essentially accusing another of hypocrisy and cowardice decides to do so...anonymously. I wonder if you'll be taunting him the next time he stands between the town and a threat.
And you are?
by A. Non. (in-game)on Thu May 8 14:49:21 2008
I never said I wasn't a coward. I never said Durkin was a coward either. The word coward is rather ambiguous. Lets just say, I'm not stupid.
Now I never *accused* Durkin of being a hypocrite, I damn well stated it as a fact.
The fact is he sees himself as far to superior to others and still chooses his battles. He mocks others continuously and does whatever he feels like, and yet feels people should look up to him. As Mr. Rock said, he is burning bridges.
If he was such a hero that the town desperately needed, he'd be fighting side by side with the rest of the settlers regardless of what we are facing. He would be friendly and helpful no matter who he was talking to. He wouldn't mock them or, as he admits, be harsh with them. As it is, he abuses his position as Death's servant to meet his own ends. A real hero wouldn't do that. Now that I think about it, a real Zealot wouldn't do that either.
I've seen many settlers die again and again defending the town completely selflessly. *Those* are the people who will really save the town in the end. And those are the people I will support.
All in all, I'm just calling it like I see it.

Perhaps you missed the moment during that fight where a single kia stood against four of the fiends with only her staff in hand. I have oft put myself in danger to repair the limbs of those standing for the town and I can use no weapon at all. It is an honor to be kia, not the insult you seem to imply.
Kiahaven is not a cave to cower in; it is a place where we are welcome. I wish that this were not notable enough to deserve a name, but it seems to be. Whatever opinion you may hold of him, Durkin has welcomed me to his table and extended excellent hospitality.
The town could "save ourselves", but we shall do so by looking each other in the eye, not leaving anonymous insults. What joy the fiends must take if they see our bickering. We cause each other more pain than they can comprehend; they may hurt our bodies and weaken our spirits, but we destroy the connections that offer our only hope of survival.

Well said, lass. And ye sure have my gratitude for th'times ye've patched me up when I fall.
I'm sorry I wasna' able to be there for that last fight. Sometimes the spirit is willin' and the body is weak, as they say.
Sure, there are people in this town I have differences with, and one or two I have some real problems about. But, right now, we'd best be lookin' out for each other. Not everyone has the skill or the know-how for standin' up to a fiend in a fight. Some of us are better at fightin' than others (and Durkin, aye, ye're better at it than the rest of us; I doubt anyone would disagree wi' tha'. But a lot of us are tryin' the best we can.). Sometimes, gettin' t'shelter so ye can help people after is a better choice. We've all got gifts and talents we can share, and I hope we'll be able t'work together withou' all this snipin' and bickerin'.
O'course we'll have our differences, some of them serious. Like I said, there are some folk about that I've got real problems with. But there are better ways o'dealin' with those than pickin' at each other like this.
I said a few harsh words meself tha' last gatherin', and I'm sorry if any o'them gave offense. I'm not much good at subtle.

Please
by Aniela Medetti (Alexandra Gaetano) (in-game)on Thu May 8 18:16:20 2008
Dear Friends,
Please be done with this cruelty. It pains me to witness such unkindness among us. We all must understand that no matter the enemy, no matter the ruler, our shared trials have made us a community, a family. We may clash sometimes but never should we fell each other. Though our crafts or patrons may change, our shared experiences do not, nor does the bond that forms from these. This is why we hold our blades. Long before we became enemies we were friends who sacrificed ourselves for each other. This is not something easily forgotten. As Princess Sita has hidden me from the dark elves, so Durkin has taken poison for me. Under Galen and under Lanencrest, we hold the same morals, strengths, and wisdom. Please have patience with each other and remember that the man or woman you fight now, was the same brother or sister that fought by your side, that gathered you up when you fell.
We are all afraid in this land, as tomorrow is never promised to us here. Each of us deal with this fear differently. Some of us are paralyzed, while others fall to hubris, and yet more to bitterness. We owe it to each other to have patience with these differences. Each voice needs to not only be acknowledged, but heard, each option weighed, and each disagreement quelled. We need each other, strong and weak, brash and timorous. We must understand that each of us has shadows, trials, and thorns unseen and unknown to each other which drive our actions and haunt our beings.
I have seen this settlement rage together against the night. I have seen a time when only a distant cry was enough call up whistles, summon howls, and link shields, but now it seems that fear reserves us. We have seen so many fall that the passionate lunge onto the battlefield has turned to a timid step. I have wept in horror as the night closes around me and for the first time found few hands to reach out to. We are drifting from each other, and our enemies are winning. Fear, anger, and bitterness are defeating us.
There is so much darkness in this land that we need not create more, for fear the light will wan all together too dim. Without each other we are nothing, no matter how strong of mind, heart, or body we might be. Please restore our peace so that we may restore our lives, and defeat our fears.
If you fall I will drag you. Sage, seer, warrior, thief, or necromancer, it does not matter as you are my family now. Through trial and joy we are bound and none shall fall without aid or retribution.
My heart and my strength to you my friends, Aniela Meditti

The fanous anon speaks again. I can count 3 times last moon when the town was being devistated and the enemy had control of Sergei and Heamish and all were going to die that stayed. I was not there at first but people came to get me. At first i wanted to let you all die to prove my piont but i could not. I came and felled all of the monsters and their minions alike. I died once myself doing this. As much as i wish i could teach you all a lesson i still could not sit back and watch you die. I even came to Sita's aid when she was the only one left. How am i a hypocrite? When have I said one thing and done another? I dont fight beside the town anymore becuase I cant trust them to turn my back to. And anon your bark gives you away. You must be a master thief to sneak up to the board and put a message on it with so many of us watching. Aniela is right other then the necromancer part. We will all fall sometime if we dont stick together. I will stay out of your towns stuff as we never seem to see eye to eye. You know who you are when i say you are not welcome on my land I better not see you there.

First of all I would like to commend Aniela for truly her words are both eloquent and filled with wisdom that I fear is lost on many. Aniela you truly are a Lanencrest Lady, your family would be proud. On matters of good and evil and shades of grey. Durkin, I know we have are differences, and I thank you for your kind words, but I feel as though I must voice an opinion on this matter. When we speak of good and evil, it is all in the eye of the beholder. You say that I am an evil necromancer and that I should be punished for what I am, however have any of you witnessed me raising undead armies to attack the town or being destructive and killing my fellow settlers. The answer is no. I do not recall even a single undead creature attacking the town last moon that you could even try to blame me for. Truth be told I go out of my way to help protect this settlement and my friends within it. I have also saved the townspeople on many ocaisions, whether it was crafting a dream catcher to stop the dream assassin, or solving puzzles to prevent the end of the world. I know you believe me to be evil an necromancer based upon what some one told you, and you believe this to be true with out any evidence. But ask yourself Durkin, does that make you truly good? Or a shade of grey yourself? Should we believe all rumors that are said about our fellow settlers without evidence? Or shall we judge them based upon their actions. What is the just punishment for someone impersonating Darteem, as I see someone has done, what is the penalty for learning and casting restore life? What is the price one pays for leaving a friend to die? I do not say this to mock or dismiss your opinions, for you do help the frontier and I know you are acting true to your heart and with the best of intentions, but I do ask that you give your fellow settlers a fair look. I understand your frustrations with the people on the frontier, I have my own frustrations as well. It truly pains me that we do not come together to defend our town, but scatter to the winds whenever a threat comes to challenge us. I truly hope that in the days ahead that we shall band together and not leave a handful of people to defend the town. This only results in death. This is increasingly important, because contrary to popular opinion, we are not ruled by Lanencrest. They have given us aid and offered to protect us, but we are independent, and stand on our own. I suppose what I mean to say is that you may only see shades of grey, but give it a chance, I see good in the people of the frontier, and I am sure that if you try, and forgive us our imperfections you may be able to see it too. I truly hope that we can all band together and stand as one, our survival as an independent entity depends on it. Princess Sita Drake

I guess I did say one thing hypocritical and that was that all were welcome on my land. That must be changed do to the response i recieved. I cant trust anyone right now. Even my girl says she will help my enemies to try to bring this all to an end. It is obvious to me that not all the evil left with the Galanese. As amatter of fact it is worse now then ever before. So bad that I am some how a "bad guy" and necromancers and demon summoners are the "good guys". What happened to the days of the Temple of the Skull, Natures paw, the greenies, or any other goodly groups. I guess there is no place for true good here just shades of gray. Ironic that is where we will all end up one day.

Durkin,
Perhaps ye might offer some advice t'the less experienced on the best ways t'fight fiends? May be tha' people'd be more willin' t'stand and fight if they felt they had a chance o'actually doin' some good at it. Not everyone has the experience or skill ye do, it's true, but from what I've seen, there are newer folk here who'd like t'be lendin' more of a hand, but don't know how best t'do so.
Ye speak of old groups. We're a pretty small band right now, and ye're right, there's nae so much of tha' sort of thing. But there are goodly *people* here. I've seen a lot o' selflessness tha' gives me hope when little else around here does.
Interesting.

How many must I save before the insults and less than veiled threats stop? For one who speaks so loudly of action, you seem more than willing to ignore those of others. Be weary not to interfere with your own goals due to short sightedness and prejudice. Or unlike all unwary you shall fall.
